Nordic Studio, was established on Mill Street, Almonte, in 1982. It then evolved into Nordic Star in 1992 when ownership changed.

On April 3rd, 2007, Tammy Connors took over ownership of Nordic Star and opted to keep the same name saying:

"Nordic Star is a familiar name for most people in Almonte and the surrounding areas, so why change a good thing?"

On August 2nd, 2008 Nordic Star made another change: the store moved next door from 68 to 66 Mill St.
